I’m Australian, so yeah… I probably would. Anyway, learn how to pirate!
1. Get a VPN
VPNs are very useful. I mainly have one for protection because I kept getting in trouble for “illegal downloads” that were happening “through my account”. For the record, there are no real consequences, you just get scary emails. Also VPNs are good for getting cheaper subscriptions from other countries - Adobe and IxDF were about half price in the states (cheaper subscription and more discounts) compared to Australia. I use NordVPN.
2. Stream content
If you have decent wifi, just stream. I prefer this to subscription services, because I CAN NOT with infinite scroll and there are too many platforms, but somehow none of them ever have what I’m looking for - yes I decide first, and then search - for my sanity. Also, streaming is free :)
3. Learn how to download
Time to steal cars…
Most things work like radios - with transmitters and receivers. So first you need a receiver. Download Transmission for mac or something else for non-macs (no idea, google it) and download VLC player - I don’t remember why or if you really need it, but I use it.
For audiobooks, I use BookPlayer. It is the best app - simple, easy, does what I need, with no extra bullshit. BookPlayer, please never change!
4. Find content
Get shows/books (torrents) from 1337x or Pirate Bay. Kickass used to be ok too, but I haven’t tried it recently. Note: sometimes the address will change for reasons… :/, so just google the name or look up “best torrent sites” - something will come up. If you need subtitles, google it - I don’t have a regular site and I think there are a few AI chrome extensions that do that now anyway - it’s neat.
Now, figure out how to download the torrent - it’s usually the magnet icon and have fun watching the little line progress…
Congratulations, you are a pirate :)
