1. Anything Whale Rider
This movie is fantastic, but everything about it makes me cry like even just thinking about it or seeing a pic. No idea, but just full on sobbing. It’s like a gut punch of feelings. She’s just so small and earnest and there’s so much nature and blue… *off to get tissues…
2. The Last of the Mohicans soundtrack
Woops spoiler, but also this movie came out in 1993.
Mainly this song, The Kiss. Honestly that violin feels a bit emotionally manipulative - like it had no business lulling us into a trance and then hitting us with that crescendo. I thought I was safe, but now I’m being asked if I’m ok. I’m not.
3. Burn by The Cure
Ok this one is a little different. I can listen to this song and not cry, but it’s my go to cry song for when I want to work up a cry - it’s sort of a self care technique, similar to finding ways to sleep. I find it helps to focus on each sound separately and then let them all flood in together.
Side note - Bryce Dallas Howard can cry on demand. It’s pretty cool.
